Twelves is another great golf side game that you can play with four players. This game is named twelves because twelve points are awarded amongst the four golfers each hole. The points are awarded as follows.
- Lowest scorer: 6 points
- 2nd lowest scorer: 4 points
- 3rd lowest scorer: 2 points
- Highest scorer: 0 points
If multiple players tie on the hole then you add up the points of their two positions and give each player half the total.
EX: Two players have the lowest score
6 points + 4 points = 10 points
So each of the two players are awarded five points.
Twelves Golf Game Scoring
The scoring of this game is typically done by collecting the total over all 18 holes. So whichever golfer has the highest score after eighteen holes is the winner.

Nassau Scoring
Nassau scoring breaks this game down into three bets. The front nine, the back nine, and the cumulative score after eighteen holes.
This makes this game a little more complex and often puts more money on the line. It also allows golfers that are down by large amounts after nine to still win some money on the back.
Final Three On Each Nine
This scoring system only counts your score on the final three holes on each nine. This is a much more casual way to play Twelves as you are only collecting scores on one third of the course.
Though this scoring system does add some excitement to the end of the round as with fewer holes a big mistake is going to be much more costly.
Merging With Other Side Games
The other way to play the game of Twelves is to merge it with other side games. Using this golf game in conjunction with stroke play bets or a game of wolf is always an option.
Twelves is a relatively relaxed side game when compared to others. This game does not require you to play the game any differently. That is why this game can be paired so easily with others.
